blog 7- incarnation animated

Many of us have a friend named David Crowder. Admittedly, Dave and I are not the best of freinds, but we are certainly more than acquaintences. My wife and I were at UBC during its early years and have a special role and had a small part in helping the church become what it is today. Though our part was small, the inpact Kyle, Dave, Ben(before his UBC days), and Chris Seay had on us as Christian minister has been tremendous and we carry a good bit of ubc spirit everywhere we go and are trying to spread a different expression of faith than the rigid expression we were taught was the only one while growing up.

But to the funny stuff.

Dave has published a doodle that appears to be himself. It is the stick figure equivalent to a self protrait and it is quite creative. It was even published in last months CCM magazine. It is on stickers, guitar picks, and I even got a temporary tatoo of it with my purchase of Illuminate.

I really wanted to show it to you, but I cant find it online and dont have a picture of it ready. But, if by chance you have not seen this glorious piece of art, please find your way to the David Crowder Band Website and find daves section along the bottom orange circles. Then find the crowder head game and you will get the idea.

All this to bring up that I have found and illustration of myself. I was watching a little Discovery Kids this morning on NBC and I saw this kid from the show Time Warp Trio. I am pretty sure this is how nerdy I really am, though I pretend to not be so.

Therefore, if you ever need a good look at the aho and havent seen what is going on lately, just click over to the TIME WARP TRIO website or settle in for some discovery kids, and your friend chris will always be there, even if my name is Sam on tv.

blog 6- recent listening

A freind of mine bought a VW Jetta last fall. Now, as he drives down the road, he plays a game with himself, "HOW TRENDY AM I?" What he does is count all of the jettas he passes and counts them til he gets to 10. At 10 he realizes, he is simply trendy.

I began playing a little game with myself recently. Rolling Stone has a small box in the back of each issue which is labeled, BUY THESE NOW. For about 2 months now, I have had at least two of the cds in the box. I guess i am musically trendy, and buy too much music.

But above I have shown the last 5 cds I have bought. All of them are good, and fit my taste. Some have broader appeal than others, you dont have to like them, but I would recommend any them to you if you are considering them or just want some pretty good music. And, finally, though I am a DMB fan, it is the one I would be least likely to recommend, so maybe this sentance gets me a little music cred. and not just the criticism of others who are not dmb fans.
peace and happy listening

PS. i also have a few on a list i would like ot get. New albums from WHITE STRIPES, OASIS and Dave Crowder in September may be in my future as well. Hopefully Kanye West will drop his album soon too.

blog 5- materialistic top 5

Ever since I was a kid I have loved cars. Up until a few years ago, I could identify cars by their headlights in the dark. Now, they all just look the same.

But recently, I took some kids to see the new Herbie movie, which is pretty much about Lindsey Lohan and not much else, and it got me thinking about cars I would like to have at some point before my life is over. So here is an ad-hoc top 5 list of my materialistic automobile wishes. I will leave out all of the exotic cars, becuase who doesnt want a Ferrari or Lamborgini. I will indulge myself with a Porche though.

These are Just classic. I imagine it would be easy to work on and fun to drive. Definitely really slow, but great for a system.

Is there a more classic SUV that this. So many people I talk to say their family had one and they wish they still had it. It is classic woody, 80's style.

911 is truly classic. I would have to buy an older one, but a 911 is still a 911

Saab 9-2x This is my current infatuation. It is basically a Subaru WRX wagon with some styling changes. Hopefully i will be able to get one in the next year.

Ok, maybe this is cheating, but doesnt every boy of the 80s want one of these. The key to having a General Lee would be to have the Alabama backroads and Rosco P. Coltraine chasing you too.
