Questions?

I am biased regarding olympic events. I like track and field. With that out in the open, Why am I having to watch the Chinese and Russian Syncronized Swimming events instead of prelims and heats of Track and field events.
Or, what about field hockey, mountain biking, any biking, volleyball, badmitten, shooting, archery, or ping pong? All of these are sports where the winners are pretty well defined without the help or hinderance of a Judge (9.0, 8.5, 8.5, 9.5, 2.3). It just seems like we could get better stuff to watch.

Another question is this: Should a Christian Fraternity sign an anti-descrimination policy? This is a issue on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus right now. I dont really want to discuss whether it is possible to have a XN fraternity, but I think this is a legitimate question. But, if there can be a XN fraternity, should they discriminate regarding who they let in. Should you let non-XNs in? How can you know? Is it even your job to discern whether someone is a XN?
Here is a link to an article about the goings on.

2 more things for today: blurry line, car

I am not sure if intoxicating, song 6 on DCB's Illuminate is a favorite of many people, but it delivers on of the most interesting and difficult song lyrics I have come across lately.
"and now I've found the blurry line/ in between you and I/ raise the cup/ drink til full sing til I cant til my voice is gone and my head is spinning, dizzy"
I don't know about you, but the line between me and God is definitely blurry right now. I, and I think we all struggle, with what is my desire and thoughts regarding this issue or situation, and what is God's view of this same situation? What has God done to influence my feelings in this situation?
Finding the blurry line is crucial, and continuing to focus on where that line is and what is being passed across it is crucial as we seek to live the lives God has for us.
I am still trying to find it, the song has and it is an encouragement in the search. I know that each time I stumble across the line, my head definitely spins.

As a few of you know, I drive a car much like this one. I have had this car for 11 years now and love it now just as much as ever. But, last year I was in an accident with it. When you have an old car like this and you get in a wreck, it is not an easy fix. No one wants to do the work on these cars for cheap and the insurance doesn't want to pay the high prices to fix them. So, I took the settlement and bought back the car for $200 and the wrecked vehicle is mine, in need of repair.
Since I went through a little bit of depression about the wreckage, I let the car sit for about a year. Then, in April, my dad and I took the broken parts off and left it in a condition ripe for fixing, but without the time, energy, or knowledge to fix it.
But this week, my friends at Cauley Tire and Auto got it running again, and now all I have to do is get the sheetmetal put back on the car. This is not simple or cheap task, but a car that moves around the parking lot and sounds great doing it is a step in the right direction. Hopefully I will be able to find the right person and price to put humpty dumpty back together again and I will be tearing up the Highway once again in what many of my roommates have called the beast.

rain

Well, it has started raining here in Raleigh, and it doesn't look like it will stop until sometime next week. Though we are not going ot get the worst of the two hurricanes, we are going to get their leftover rain. This means golf is on hold and so are many other things. It also really stinks to have rain when you have a dog. The dog can't help but get messy outside and he needs to walk and go potty. Rain is just a bummer all around so if you are in bright sunshine, though it may be hot, count your blessings

day

it is a beautiful day here in Raleigh, NC and the fact that I am taking 5 minutes to write instead of enjoying the ride home strikes me as a bit obsurd, but here I am anyway.
I plan on enjoying the day in the Jeep, one of the dozen or so days the good Lord enitles us jeep owners to each year.
I also have been having lots of thoughts about writing now that I don't have to for a grade, yet each time I get to my blog interface, I just blank in favor of a quick laugh. Sorry about that.
I would like to point you to a new video game that I am playing. Brother Jeff sent me a copy of NCAA 2005 from EA Sports, his employer. While I am looking foward to Madden and a new Tiger Woods golf game even more, I do really like this football game. If you are looking for a fun game this could be it. It is at least worth a rental and trying your hand at building a dynasty out of one of your favorite schools like Duke, Baylor, North Texas, or Michigan Tech. I am currently working on the first two but have dreams of a BCS championship to a small two directional school. Peace...

School is Coming

Well, for me, the summer is coming to an end. The youth are starting school on Tuesday (August 10) and that means I get to have a little bit of rest. In years past, this meant about a week becuase I was starting school at the end of the month, but as a recent graduate, the only thing I have to look forward to with the beginning of a new school year is the expiration of my health insurance and parking pass. Now I really have to pay if I need to go to campus.
The summer brought lots of travel and it was great. I covered just about every mile of Interstate 95 from the driver's seat. I didn't get north beyond Portland Maine, but I did get to Key Largo which is about 40 miles south of the end of 95. This also means I have been to and through every state on the eastern seaboard with the small exception being Vermont. I didn't get there but I am looking forward to the day I can go and visit Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Place.
I also got to Birmingham, AL and Ridgecrest, NC. The Fall holds possibilities for trips to South Carolina, Virginia, and Texas. We shall soon see.

You hopefully have also noticed the change in scenery. I am somewhat happy with the new template, but really just happy to be out of the old. I hope to post more often and more substantially. I wish happy reading and writing for you.

Grace and Peace
